There’s an obvious reason for us to plant some Swamp Milkweed in our flower gardens. The Monarch Butterfly is becoming extinct. We need to feed and encourage the butterfly to stop at our homes to continue there course in the environment.
It’s not just for the monarchs, though milkweed is the sole food for this increasingly endangered butterfly — actually, for the caterpillar. (Northeastern US monarch populations are especially vulnerable.) Milkweed not only feeds monarchs, but other pollinators from bees to butterflies.
Without these pollinators our flowers will not thrive. Please plant some…they have a pretty pink flower and a beautful scent!
