The Lucky Bamboo is one of my personal favorites! It is originally from China. The lucky part of this plant it is said…is the odd number of stalks tied together. Even numbers are bad luck. Always count the stalks when you are purchasing one. Interestingly, you’ll never find a traditional lucky bamboo arrangement with four stalks.. In Chinese, the word for four is close to the word for death, so a gift of four bamboo stalks would be considered very rude. I am very superstitious…want the good luck 🙂
They are a picky plant when it comes to watering. They are sensitive to chlorine that is in tap water. You must water with bottled water. Also if you notice the green leafs fading in color it needs more light. It does best in indirect light.
Its great for a conversation piece in your home. But I find it best as a house warming gift. Stick an envelope between the stalks containing a few lottery tickets. Perfect house warming! GOOD LUCK!
