First of all….Happy St. Pattys Day to all the Irish readers out there! I don’t have any Irish in me but have the happy name Patti.
Today I am talking about the Hyacinth which is not green…lol The fragrance is very strong on this flower and I just found out the flower has a skin irratant in it whhich my hands could show you right now. I broke out the other day when I was handling the plants to water the other day.
You will need to plant these Hyacinth Bulbs outside in the Fall point side up. They will flower in April. They come in various pastel colors Again….strong fragrance!
Sometimes in the grocery store you will see what is called a “forced bulb”. The bulb is inside a a glass vase with the water covering the roots but no higher. They will bloom in the glass…..but planting them outside later usually is a waste of time. Throw the plant away but reuse the glass is my advice 🙂
