The most popular perennial in the U.S. is the hosta. So easy to grow and they spread bigger and bigger. Varigated is my favorite-they have 2 toned leaves as shown here.
Hostas are shade tolerant and not shade loving as you may think. The irony about hostas is that they actually grow and bloom more vigorously in full sun, but the leaves also become scorched and burnt by the sun. Still most hostas will benefit from a couple of hours of morning sun.
A secret in making floral bouquets when you are at a loss for greens….walk outside and grab 5 hosta leaves. They get placed on the outside of the bouquet substituting for the greenery. It is such a formal look. Almost like a bridal bouquet.
