The ole Ginkgo Tree that stands on the front lawn of my childhood home in Ringoes, New Jersey holds many stories and memories. The one story happened when I was a baby in a crib…of the tree getting hit by lightening! And the lightening bolt traveling up the telephone line into the house. OK. Maybe the story has taken some twists and turns. lol.
I remember the fruit dropping from the tree being stinky and a problem when playing a game of badmitten. haha As a young girl I was fascinated with the fan shaped leaves. I would draw pictures of them or use them as little fans to cool myself. This tree is not a common tree people plant.
But over the years the Gingko was studied and found to be useful. Ginkgo is an herb used to treat brain health Its seeds are commonly used for healing purposes in Chinese medicine. Ginkgo can protect against dementia by improving blood flow to the brain. Maybe I need to take some Ginkgo to get the old stories right…lol
