This shrub will definitely brighten up a yard in the late part of winter and early spring, but will be rather ordinary and boring for the other seasons. The forsythia tends to get leggy so you will need to prone it or trim this as a hedge often. Its season is so short but it really stands out because of its color. The flowers on it are similar to yellow bells.  Did anyone spot these appearing yet? They are in NJ.

  1. Yes I have mine in bloom and you are right – they require a lot of trimming back as we use them as hedging. I do love the color though because yellow is my favorite. Mine only bloom for a few short weeks and then gone.
