Birds of Paradise | The Flowers AvenueSouth Africa’s bird-of-paradise is a member of the banana family. It sports a beautiful flower believed to resemble the avian bird of paradise in flight. You may have seen these in your tropical flower section. I entered a photo of one of these odd looking flowers in a flower show once.

We get these in my flower shop during the summer every year. Its to put customers into a vacation mood.

An idea I have used once on Thanksgiving for a centerpiece. First make the turkeys body out of a pineapple as shown below. Then surround the base in flower stems. To top it off…use a bird of paradise for the head.


  1. Aw, this was a really nice post. In idea I want to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and precise effort to make an excellent article… however what can I say… I procrastinate alot and not at all appear to get one thing done.
